Go The Right Way

CONFLICT is neither easy nor fun to deal with, especially when it deals with friends, family or fellow believers in the church. Yet, because we are all different people with differing views and personalities, we will all have to deal with sometime throughout our lifetime. In today’s Next Level reading, Jesus addresses the difficult issue of dealing with conflict with each other and gives us the “RIGHT WAY” strategy to deal with it.

¹⁵“If another believer sins against you,go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back. ¹⁶But if you are unsuccessful, take one or two others with you and go back again, so that everything you say may be confirmed by two or three witnesses. ¹⁷If the person still refuses to listen, take your case to the church. Then if he or she won’t accept the church’s decision, treat that person as a pagan or a corrupt tax collector. (Matt. 18:15-17)

Step #1 Go to the person who has offended you, in a humble and loving manner (Matt. 7:12- In the way you would want to be treated.) and have a private discussion about how that person’s actions or words have hurt you. Way too often, the person who has offended us is the last person to find out about the offense. This is wrong! If we care about the relationship, then we need to “care enough to confront.” If the person responds in a positive way, the relationship is renewed and can even be strengthened.

Step #2 If the first meeting is unsuccessful, go back to that person again, in a humble and loving manner (Matt. 7:12- In the way you would want to be treated.) with 1 or 2 other people to help resolve the conflict and to confirm what was said in the conversation. Often times, just by bringing other’s into the discussion, they are able to objectively add insights that maybe both parties are not able to see.

Step #3 If the previous two meetings do not bring about a reconciliation, then you are to bring the issue to the Leadership of the Church and allow them to help you resolve the conflict.

Step #4 If after all of these steps have been taken in the right manner, and one party still refuses to reconcile the conflict, then the problem is probably much bigger than the issue at hand. At this point, the person who is seeking reconciliation needs to surrender the issue and relationship into God’s hands, but continue to pray earnestly for the other person.

As we go to the Next Level as a church, there will most certainly be conflict and disagreements with each other because we all have our different views and opinions of what this looks like. When conflict shows it’s ugly head, let me encourage you to “GO THE RIGHT WAY”. And remember this, God’s Way is not always the easiest way, but for the benefit of our relationships it’s the BEST WAY!

DEALING WITH DISAPPOINTMENT

Have you ever been disappointed before? No, I’m not talking about a football game, though this past weekend does reminds us of how difficulties often come unexpectantly. I’m talking about real-life disappointments like loosing a job, discovering that you or a loved one has a life-altering disease, or even a marital disappointment. How you deal with disappointments can often provide tremendous opportunities for Next Level steps in your life.

In last weeks reading, Jesus offers a full-proof game plan for dealing with and getting through disappointment. Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens (disappointed), and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” (Matt. 11:28-30 NLT)

#1 “Come to me…” – Instead of our usual response which is either to lash out and hurt others or going introvert and carrying around an inner-rage, allowing no one else inside. Jesus challenges us to go to Him as our first response to disappointments.

#2 “Take my yoke upon you.”- A yoke is an instrument farmers used to use to connect their oxen together to pull plows for their fields. The whole principle is that two are stronger than one when living and working in connection and unity. God provided a way for all of us to live in connection and unity with Him through a relationship with His son, Jesus Christ.

#3 “Let me teach you…”- Jesus is asking for us to be “teachable.” A teachable spirit calls for us to surrender our ways and learning to replace them with His ways. This doesn’t come easy for any of us especially when our habits shape our lives like they do. Yet, “letting go and letting God” truly is the key to transformation.

If your soul is in a state of DISAPPOINTMENT, don’t punish yourself and allow your heart to be dragged down. Instead, choose a different road and let your DISAPPOINTMENTS be an opportunity to go to the Next Level with God.

SURRENDER ME TO WIN

I’m not a football genius, but I can tell you that one of the biggest reasons for the successful season that the Packers are having this year is due to their willingness on an individual level to surrender their own personal dreams and desires and follow the leadership of their coach for the success of the team. We’ve all been a part of relationships or teams where individuals are unwilling to submit their personal desires for the common good of the team. And what’s usually the outcome? There’s controversy, frustration, disunity and most often a defeat when it mattered the most.

In my Next Level reading yesterday, I came across this same scenario as Jesus was talking about being a true follower of Christ. He told his disciples (his team), “If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.” (Matt. 10:39)NLT In other words, if your life consists of simply living “your way”, unwilling to submit to the leadership of the Coach (Christ), then how can expect to win in the game of life. It’s only when we come to that place of surrendering ourselves, our pursuits, our desires, our will to Christ, acknowledging our need for His leadership in our lives that we discover what life is all about. You’ve been given this one life to live. One chance to win or lose! Take your life to the next level by surrendering you and living for Him!

Pastor Mark Petric Update

This is an update sent to me from the Ohio District Superintendant on the condition of Pastor Mark Petric, Pastor of New Life Assembly of God in Wellington, Ohio. For those who don’t know the story, a few weeks ago, Mark’s son turned a gun on Mark, shooting him in the face, and fatally wounding his wife Sue. Many of you in the church have been praying for Pastor Mark and have asked for updates. Here’s the latest news that I received just today. Thank you Team for your continued support in prayer!

This is a picture of Pastor Mark Petric and me (Doug Clay) at the hospital. His recovery is truly miraculous!

Mark is gaining strength every day. He is having his own spiritual renewal right at Cleveland Metro Hospital! Seriously, Mark told me that at times he feels the Lord’s presence in ways he never has before. He is reading through the book of Job and rereading 1Peter four times a day!

Pastor Mark asked me to convey his appreciation to you for your prayers. He is insistent that he can actually feel the prayer support of people and credits his amazing recovery to that. He would like continued prayer for an infection that has developed in his jaw. This may require some additional surgery and the removal of a couple of teeth, but Mark is believing God for a divine touch, so I told him we would believe with him!

It really is incredible…Mark is witnessing to the medical staff, ministering to people who come to visit him, and telling people how God is faithful to take the bad situations of life and use them for His glory.

I walked into the hospital fully intending on ministering to Mark, but left there feeling like he ministered to me!

“HE IS NO FOOL…”

I love the quote that was mentioned in last Sunday’s message, taken from the journal of missionary Jim Elliot. He wrote it as he prepared himself to go to the Aucas (translated “Savages”) in the jungles of Ecuador to share the life-changing message of Jesus Christ to a tribe of people who had never heard about God’s love. He writes, “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.” Little did Jim know that he and his team would be killed by Auca warriors just as they arrived. This makes his statement that much more profound!

You see, Jim Elliot truly understood that “we are not our own.” (1 Cor. 6:19) You are God’s! Therefore, if this is true, then “Everything else that you are in possession of: your finances, house, car, your family, everything you’ve ever invested in IS NOT YOURS EITHER! Everything we are in possession of is God’s; He is the owner, we are the Stewards. All of the possessions that He’s given to us to be stewards over are to be used for eternal investments. Think about that!

Jim Elliot knew and understood this truth which gave him the faith and courage to take a risk with his earthly life to have an impact on other’s eternal lives. The way Jim saw it, he had absolutely nothing of eternal value to lose, but everything to gain! Once you understand and begin to live out this principle of God’s ownership, you are well on your way to living the blessed life. The first step, surrender your control and submit to God’s! After that, God will take the wheel!

Tragedy in Pastor's home

Pastor Mark & Sue Petric

My heart was saddened to hear the word of friends from Ohio who’ve experienced a terrible tragedy in their home. Please keep Pastor Mark and his family in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time. Also, please pray for their son Daniel.

Calls of support for the family of Pastor Mark and Sue Petric are coming in from all over. The Petric family and the congregation of New Life Assembly of God in Wellington, Ohio are extremely grateful for such a tremendous outpouring of love.

As a result of the tragedy at their home on October 20, 2007, Sue was fatally wounded. She was 43 and was dearly loved by her family and many friends. Mark continues to recover at Cleveland Metro Hospital. Their 17-year-old daughter, Holly, a high school senior, and their 21-year-old daughter, Heidi, and her husband, Andy, continue to comfort each other in the company of many close relatives and friends. Their 16-year-old son, Daniel, remains in custody. Thank you for continuing to daily lift up this precious family and their many grieving loved ones at this very difficult time.

Ongoing grief counseling is available to the family as well as members of New Life AG. Interim ministry for weekly church services and coordination of church administration is being arranged in regular consultation with the church board.

EXPERIENCING THE X-FACTOR

I am very excited to hear the testimonies that I am receiving about this past month’s sermon series, THE X-FACTOR, a study on the Holy Spirit. I’ve been hearing from people with sincere questions and from those who are encountering God in a whole new way. In last Sunday’s service, Chris Mau experienced the Holy Spirit in a life-changing way. He later told me, “It is definitely something that I am very excited about and have been searching after for awhile.”

God’s Word tells us that He wants to give good gifts to us. If you are in that place of seeking after the Holy Spirit in a whole new way, let me encourage you with a few things.

#1 Open up your Bible and read the book of Acts and see how God poured out His Spirit on the early church. Also, look at the other scripture passages from the series notes of the past few weeks. As you read, ask God to speak to you.

#2 Remember that God’s ways are different than our ways. He does not always operate in the ways that are at first comfortable with us.

#3 Make sure you have a “heart to heart” with God and ask Him if there’s anything in the way (Sin) of your relationship with Him. Take time to really listen. Then, when God speaks, respond to Him with a repentive heart.

#4 Seek after God, the Giver, and don’t dwell on the Gift!

#5 Keep pursuing! I believe God is looking for the heart that is desperate for Him.

#6 If you begin to experience a different sensation, don’t try to figure it out, just let God pour His Spirit out on you. Too many people allow the “paralysis from analysis” to hinder them from encountering God in new ways!

I am convinced that the Holy Spirit truly is the X-FACTOR in our lives. He makes all the difference in the world. He is very much alive today and wants to daily be active in our lives. However, the Holy Spirit is a gentleman, and will never push himself on someone who’s heart is not open.

Let me encourage you in your daily prayer times for the next weeks to call out to God and tell Him, “GOD, ALL I WANT IS YOU! FILL ME (CONTINUE TO FILL ME) WITH YOUR SPIRIT IN ANY WAY YOU CHOOSE! ALL I WANT IS YOU AND ANY GIFTS YOU HAVE FOR MY LIFE!” When you call out to God like this in prayer, with a heart of desperation, things begin to happen! (Isn’t this really how He wants us to daily approach Him anyhow?)

OUT OF NOWHERE!

If you haven’t heard the news yet, there was a minor car accident at the church last Saturday, Oct. 13^th. In fact, it was a car accident INTO the church. Praise God, no one was seriously hurt, nor was there serious damage to the building.

Sometimes life can be like that! Our lives can become so structured and routine that every day becomes the “same ole”. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing really wrong with this. But, my question is, “Is your life structured so that when those difficult life-circumstances come out of nowhere (and they will), your life goes to pieces?” If you ask me, the key is your foundation!

Check out Matt. 7:24-27! Jesus tells us that in life, storms, difficulties, trials will come out of nowhere. All of is, in one way, shape or form are going to be hit from nowhere. He goes on to tell us that if your life is based on anything else other than Christ, that’s foolish, and you’re heading for a crash. God did not create us to be self-sustained! We need Him in our lives! More than that, we need Him to be our foundation. Because when we are in Christ, we are founded on a ROCK! And when the storms of life come out of nowhere, WE CAN STAND STRONG!

21 Day Challenge

This past Sunday, I challenged New Life to take a 21 Day Challenge. This means that you will commit for twenty-one straight days that you will take time out of your day to pursue connection with God through His Word and prayer. We chose 21 days because it is said that this is how long it takes to start a habit in your life. However, if spiritual growth is going to take place, daily connection with God must be more than a habit, it must be a lifestyle pursuit. I heard someone once say, "Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow."

When it comes to reading God’s Word, many are confused on where to begin. Because this month’s sermon series, “The X-Factor”, will be answering questions about the Holy Spirit, my suggestion is to read through the book of Acts to discover how this X-factor impacted the first church and started and outbreak throughout the world. I believe that what God did in this early church is what He wants to do in every church. Let me challenge each of you in this 21 day challenge to pursue God’s transforming gift that will change your life.

Growing in Community

I’ve decided that I’m a people person. I’m the type that loves to go to gatherings of new people, getting involved in conversations where you get to know them, learning and growing from their life’s experiences. I’m excited with the opportunity to get to know the new neighbor as they move in down the street. In fact, this past year has been an exciting expedition getting to know the people in my church, community, and my neighborhood.

Someone once said that, “Following Jesus is living life and embracing more of it together with others.” I love being a follower of Christ, but I love it more following Christ together in community with others.

Look how the Message bible describes the benefits of living in community with each other.“By yourself you’re unprotected. With a friend you face the worst. Can you round up a third? A three-stranded rope isn't easily snapped." (Ecclesiastes 4:12 The Message)

Growing in Christ is what we are designed to do. Growing together makes you stronger!

“Wasn’t last Sunday’s baptism service just awesome?” On Sunday, we heard from 7 individuals who shared publicly of how their lives have been touched and transformed by the love of Jesus Christ. I don’t know about you, but I love to hear stories of lives that have been transformed by God’s unconditional love.
Someone once said that Baptism is all about “an outward expression of an inward experience.” I like that phrase because it challenges me in my everyday walk to daily live out my baptism experience by sharing with others my “inward experience” of what Christ did for me. If you’ve surrendered your life to Christ, you have a story to tell.
Let me encourage you to not keep this story to yourself, but to daily look for opportunities to share your life-changing story with others. Who knows, your story just may change someone else’s life!

August 5^th – Sorry! We have just received word last week that the team from Trinidad is not able to join us as they were unable to obtain visas to enter the US. However, we will be blessed to have Tom and Wendy Fellner, who are involved in a church-planting project in Colorado, who will share their heart and vision with us on this morning.

August 19^th – Ron & Gloria Hanson, missionaries for the Africa Oasis Project will be ministering to us in this service. We look forward to celebrating with them what God was able to do through our church this past Spring.

SERMONS SEEDS : Authenticity

In continuing on in the series of living life “Relevantly”, last Sunday I spoke on the topic of “David’s authenticity” from (2 Samuel 6). In this story you will see how David showed his authentic response to God through three areas. First of all, David made significant sacrifices, going out of his way, to express his love, reverance and dedication to God. Secondly, David surrendered his position and pride by taking off his “kingly” clothing, putting on the clothing of a simple man and freely dancing in public in order to express his humility before God. David knew that if he wasn’t careful that his position as King could fill his heart with such pride that it would hinder an authentic response to God. And last of all, as a result of David’s response to God, he couldn’t help but respond to the people he was called to serve. This is what happens when you go after God authentically, you can’t help but want to bless others.

1. In what area of your life does God want you to live more authentically? A. Sacrificially B. Surrendering pride C. Service to others

2. According to (Rom. 12:1), what is Paul’s challenge to us? How is this challenge an “act of worship?”

3. What do you see as Michal’s (David’s wife) real problem with what David did? Discuss ways that you’ve encountered this same treatment and why.

Last Sunday I talked about the importance of Authenticity in our response to God on a daily basis. “God doesn’t want no counterfeit, He wants the real thing!" Are you giving God all of you or are you pretending to be something that you're not? If God is ever going to be completely REAL with you, then we've got to learn to daily be completely REAL with Him.

Ask yourself this honest question. “What is my daily response to God’s grace and power in my life?”

According to John 4:24, why does authenticity matter to God?

In Gen. 4:2-7 it talks about Cain and Abel's response to God. Discuss with your family how lack of faith, anger, and a focus on other people can get in the way of us responding to God authentically.

Connect 4 groups – “Are you having problems getting your groups started? Here’s what you do.”

#1 We are going to do this alphabetically. If the first letter in your last name is first in the alphabet then “you’re it”. Congratulations, you are now responsible for calling everyone in your group to setup a date that your group can get together. (If you don’t know what group you’re in or need phone numbers, then call the church office and we will be glad to help!)

#2 Set up a date, time, and location before July 31^st to get together with your group. (Please be understanding and know that there will not always be a perfect date for everyone in your group to meet.)

#3 At your first gathering, sit down together and discuss who’s last name is next alphabetically on the list. This person will be in charge of your groups next gathering (and so on). Here are the target dates for your group to meet. #1 before July 31^st, #2 before Aug. 26^th, #3 before Sept. 22^nd, and #4 before Oct. 20^th.

SERMON SEEDS

Last Sunday, in our series called “Born Identity”, we talked about being relevant. This word is tossed around a lot in the church world today as we strive to communicate how a life in Christ relates to how we live in the world. God is relevant! He does matter to this world! The question is, “is He relevant to your life?” I am convinced that Christ will never be that relevant to our lives until we have made Him REAL in our hearts.

Here’s a great Bible study that you can have with your family on this subject. The first way to make Christ REAL to your life is to Read the Book (the Bible).

1. Look up these verses and discuss why reading the Bible is important to a Christ-follower. (Psalm 119:9, 11, & 105, Heb. 4:12)

2. Look up (Heb. 5:11-6:1). Discuss how it is easy for a Christian to stay immature in their faith. Then, discuss ways that God wants you to mature in and the steps that you can take to reach that maturity level.

3. Challenge each family member to read their Bible everyday for one week and then discuss how God spoke to them through what they read.

SERMON SEEDS

Last Sunday, I preached on the topic of “Father’s Who Lead.” Here are some discussion questions that Dad’s can sit down and have with your family at home. Our main passage came from (Eph. 6:4) which says, “Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.”

1. Ask your kids to explain to you how you “exasperate” them as a Dad. As you are asking them, do not become defensive. Just listen and take note of what is being said.

2. We talked about the 2 ways a father leads his home: “Captain & Coach”. Ask your family what each of these mean to them.

3. Discuss with your spouse how to make better “emotional deposits” into each of your children. Remember, each child is different and will have different emotional needs.

Hopefully, these questions will you dad’s to raise the level of leadership in your home. After all, your child’s biggest need is for you to be the leader of your home.

Last Sunday, several people gathererd around Brad and Lisa Stratton to pray for a physical healing for their daughter Natalie. We received word today that the Doctor gave them a very favorable response. Thank you Team for believing together with this family!

Volunteer Opportunity – This Sunday, June 24^th, from 11-3pm, is the Fox River Trail picnic for the community of DePere. We have been asked by the coordinator to communicate their need for volunteers. If you are able to help out at this event as a volunteer (even for just an hour), then go to Voyageur Park on the Fox River Trail and talk with Marc Brummel (the event coordinator) and tell him you are from New Life and are willing to volunteer.

I am very excited about this coming Father’s Day, Sunday, June 17^th as my Dad will be coming from Ohio to share with us that morning. Being a father of 6 kids, he’s going to share with you some of the life lessons he’s learned along the way of trying to raise a family God’s way. You don’t want to miss this special service!

“CONNECT 4”

“It’s all about relationships!” Relationships are the mortar that help hold the church together. This is what Connect 4 is all about. This summer, we are focusing on connecting families, couples, singles and providing opportunities for building relationships through monthly gatherings. Here’s how it works:

· No more than “4 families” per group.

· We will form the groups by June 17^th
· Groups commit to meet once a month for 4 months
· Groups decide their own activities (home gatherings, picnics, etc.)

Hey Team,

I want to thank each and everyone of you who participated in the Africa Oasis Project through the Green Bay Marathon event. From all of the walkers, runners, and volunteers at those cold water & GU stations. GREAT JOB! Brian, myself, and those who participated in the relay team would also like to thank you for the warm cheers we received as we ran through your stations. It was very encouraging to receive your support! Sunday was just an AWESOME DAY where God was glorified!

Many have asked where we stand on the pledge total so far. To get a good “guestimate” figure, I am asking that all of you who got financial sponsors to please email me back ASAP the projected amount that you plan to turn in.

Keep this in mind when collecting and turning in your support $:

1. 1. Please make a contact with your sponsor right away.

2. 2. Be sure to thank them and offer them a receipt if needed (pick up receipts in the office).

3. 3. When all of the money is collected, put it in an envelope and seal it. Put your name and total amount on the front of the envelope and turn it into the offering plate on Sunday or turn into the office.

4. 4. Please do this as soon as you can so that we can get all totals in in a timely fashion.

GREAT AMERICA YOUTH TRIP

Just to summarize ...

-Ticket costs are $35 + tax.
- The event is for grades 6-12 (students going into 6th grade in the fall are able to go).
- We will leave church on Friday June 8th at 6 pm.
- We are staying with Gary's family (to keep the cost down).
- We will spend all day Saturday at Great America. If the weather is bad or too hot we will head over to Gurnee Mills.
- Sunday we will go to church in Kenosha and then come back in the afternoon.
- The students will need money for 4 fast food meals and any extra for snacks at G.A. and/or Gurnee Mills. Once we get an idea of how many are going, we may also ask each family to provide some sort of breakfast food or snack.
-Informational handout and permission slips are at the church.

-Gary and Andrea need to know if your kids are going no later than June 3rd so they can arrange the transportation.

-All money for the tickets need to be turned in by June 3rd so the tickets can be purchased.

AFRICA OASIS: FINAL WEEK

This morning, I read something in my devotional time that really challenged and motivated me as we are in this last week of the Africa Oasis Project. I read about the story in John 3 when Jesus completely humbled himself as like a servant, and got down on his hands and knees to wash the disciples feet. Wow! To think that our Lord and Savior would perform such a humbling task. When he was done washing their feet, he then responded to the disciples by saying:

“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.” (John 13:14-17)

As I reflect on the meaning and purpose of the Africa Oasis Project, I think of this passage. Think about it! Through our fundraising efforts, our prayers, physical and personal sacrifice, we have been able to participate as servants to reach people on the other side of the world. This is exactly the kind of action that Jesus was challenging us to get involved in, in this story.

Here’s the other part that I like. Jesus said that if you live your life doing things like this, you will be “blessed.” The word “blessed” means “to be better off.” I don’t know what God has in store for future of NLCF, but there is one thing I do know. We are definitely going to be “better off” because we chose to serve in this project. And most of all, so will the communities of Africa that are recipients of these wells.

“Well done faithful servants!”

GREEN BAY MARATHON *IMPORTANT INFORMATION*

For all of those participating in the Green Bay Marathon walk/run, please take note of the following information:

Race packets MUST be picked up on Saturday at the Lambeau Field Atrium between 10 am and 8 pm. This is for all participants!
ALL EVENTS start on Lombardi Avenue directly in front of the Lambeau Field Atrium.
Detailed maps of the start line area, finish line area, and course routes are available on the marathon website.
Avoid using Lombardi Avenue at Highway 41.
All races begin at 7am on Sunday morning so be sure to arrive early to deal with parking and for the large crowd.

AFRICA OASIS PROJECT UPDATE

In the past few weeks we have had so many positive responses from people in the community and around the area concerning the Africa Oasis Project. So many people have told me that this is a very worthy cause and ask how they can help. This is awesome! I can just sense that God is involved in this whole event. But let’s not stop moving forward in our efforts. We still need you to keep praying for project, and to still seek out sponsors. We are also still in need of volunteers to “bless the runners” as they run by. Just ask, and we will find a place for you!

This reminds me of the apostle Paul when he says:

“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 3:12-14)

This is a “Heart of Determination”! A Heart that wants to win! Then Paul sums this all up by saying:

“All of us who are mature should take such a view of things.” (Phil. 3:15)

Let me challenge each of you in your prayer and fundraising to “view” the remaining portion of this project this way! Thanks Team!

NLCF OASIS CHALLENGE

Hey Team! The challenge before is huge! Yet, God has already shown himself to us in many ways with the Green Bay Gazette article (Wow, on the front page!), and an up and coming news story on CBS channel 5. I am convinced that God is going to help us to reach our goal of $26,000, but I believe it is going to have to start with us. You see, whenever you attempt to do something great for God, it often takes a sacrifice from the participant. The Bible gives us many illustrations of when God responded to the obedience and sacrifice of people.

I am convinced that the most important thing that we can do for the people of Africa is to pray. Prayer is the key that moves the hand of God! I believe the second most important thing that we can do is to respond to what He’s called us to do. Throughout the Bible you see where great things were accomplished for God where this equation played out:

People Pray + People take Steps of Faith = God shows up!

I believe that this same equation works today! In these last few weeks leading up to the Africa Oasis Project, will you commit with me to: #1 Pray for the needs below #2 Take a step of Faith for this project? In other words, ask God what He’s wanting to do through you, then take a step of faith and go out and do it. I have no doubt that God is going to do great things in and through this church through this event, but it will take your participation. Thanks Team!

How to pray for the Continent of Africa:

1. Pray for the tremendous AIDs epidemic.

-Thousands contract and die from this disease everyday.

-Thousands of children have been left orphaned.

2. Pray for the fresh water famine

-Many people have to walk up to 10 miles a day for water.

-Estimated that 25,000 people die each day due to this crisis.

-The lack of clean water is the continents biggest killer.

3. Pray for the people who live in Countries with corrupt governments.

-In Darfur, Sudan, violence between the Sudanese Government and rebels in western Darfur, an area roughly one-fifth the size of Sudan, is affecting millions of people. Since the fighting began in early 2003 an estimated 300,000 people have lost their lives. More than 2.5 million people have been displaced, their livelihoods and villages destroyed by government forces and proxy militias. Tens of thousands of women and girls have been raped as a tool of war and the security situation continues to deteriorate. Displaced persons are unable to return to their homes in fear of renewed attacks. (Catholic Relief Services)

4. Pray for the missionaries and their families who are diligently working in this continent.

5. Pray for the goals that NLCF wants to see accomplished through the Africa Oasis Project.

-To raise $26,000 for the Assemblies of God through the participation of NLCF in the Green Bay Marathon events.

-To bless 5 communities in Africa with wells for clean drinking water.

-To plant seeds of a spiritual awakening in a dark and hurting land.
